A dog’s body holds spasms, trigger points and muscular aches and pains, just like us. Using specialist techniques, I manipulate muscles, tendons and ligaments to realign muscle fibres, releasing trigger points and relieving areas of congested muscle.
By targeting specific muscle groups, this therapy increases range of motion and improves joint function. This is especially important for older dogs who may experience stiffness or difficulty moving around. With regular sessions, they can regain their agility and enjoy a more active lifestyle.
This therapy is particularly beneficial for dogs with chronic conditions such as arthritis or hip dysplasia, as it helps to alleviate their symptoms, reduce pain and improve their quality of life.
In addition to physical benefits, myotherapy promotes emotional wellbeing as the gentle touch used during the therapy helps relax and reduce anxiety. Many pet owners have reported that their dogs appear calmer and happier after receiving treatment. Massage also improves circulation, restoring normal muscular tone and function.
Overall, our canine companions receive a wide range of benefits; from pain relief to improved mobility and emotional wellbeing.
Fascia is the thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fibre and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as our skin.
When fascia is healthy, it is flexible and relaxed. If it becomes unhealthy, through trauma, injury or inflammation, it can shorten and tighten up, leading to muscles and soft tissue binding together. This can cause restrictions in movement which can lead to tension, pressure, pain and imbalance.
Unhealthy fascia is stronger than healthy tissue, so if left untreated, it will pull the body out of its natural alignment, causing more painful issues. By using specialist massage techniques, myotherapy helps restore fascia to a healthy state.
