About me

Why I became a therapist

It was my working cocker spaniel Ky who got me started on this journey. Ky was born with severe hip problems that required surgery. I decided early on that I wanted to be able to complement the professional help he was receiving and aid in his rehabilitation. I know firsthand that Galen myotherapy works, and I am passionate about being able to support other dogs to be as pain-free as they can be. Myotherapy supported Ky to be a ‘normal’ dog, he did agility, went for long walks and Loved swimming.

My dogs

Having grown up with family dogs and enjoying going out for a walk, when my husband and I got our first house, it felt empty without a dog. Then Ky arrived, a gorgeous bundle of puppy! Ky led me on my Galen journey with all of his issues, he was the ‘best dog ever’ and enjoyed a happy and full 14 years.

William’s story is very different. We adopted him from Serbia's Forgotten Paws. An ex-hunting dog, he was found abandoned, shot in the hip and with a broken front leg. My husband and I fell in love with him when we were volunteering at the shelter and wanted him to experience love and warmth throughout his final years. On first examination here in the UK, the vet gave him two weeks to live. But with some TLC, a warm bed and treatment for all his ailments, he had a wonderful two and a half years of being spoilt with us.

Now we have Stanley. What can I say about Stanley? At 8 months old he’s finding his way in the world and is a whole heap of fun and trouble. A joy to have after the quietness of a house without dogs.

Charity work

I have volunteered for the dog charity Serbia’s Forgotten Paws for many years and have a natural affinity with dogs. Fostering around 40 abandoned or street dogs and helping them to adjust to living in a home in the UK, I have a wide range of experience working with dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. It has been extremely rewarding to see a positive response in these dogs, both physically and psychologically, to receiving love and security in their forever homes.
